Lumineers In Houston, TX

Dental veneers are a popular option in cosmetic dentistry for treating imperfections in teeth. They offer an advantage over the use of dental crowns because they require the removal of less tooth enamel during the preparation stage. An improvement in the dental veneer procedure is available with lumineers. This treatment is offered at Olive Dental Group to help create beautiful smiles throughout Houston.

What Are Lumineers?

Like veneers, lumineers are placed onto the front of teeth to change their appearance. Compared to traditional veneers, however, lumineers are thinner, and the procedure for placing them is much less aggressive, generally not requiring the use of anesthesia. They are digitally designed to fit comfortably onto the teeth so that they can be applied seamlessly and deliver a natural-looking smile.

Procedure

It will take two visits to have lumineers placed. You will need to have an initial consultation with your dentist at Olive Dental Group to discuss your needs and goals for the treatment. In the first appointment of the procedure, your dentist will take an impression of your upper and lower teeth to send to an authorized lumineers laboratory. He or she will also send photos and other records of your teeth to ensure the creation of the best-fitting shells for you. There is typically no need for extensive drilling or anesthesia. There is also not a need to place temporaries on the teeth while waiting for the lumineers to be created.

When you return to Olive Dental Group after your lumineers have been completed (usually about two weeks later), your dentist will place them onto your teeth to check the fit. Adjustments can be made as needed. Your teeth will then be moderately etched to help the lumineers bond more securely. The lumineers will be bonded one at a time, and your dentist will check your bite to ensure that the contacts are balanced so that you do not chip your lumineers through the course of daily use.

If you have minor imperfections in your teeth, such as chips or gaps, and are interested in lumineers as a cosmetic solution, make an appointment at Olive Dental Group for a consultation in Houston.
